Frank Zappa And Fireworks

Happy Birthday To Me   I joined the masses today. While on a mass transit trip across the city to the dentist, I did it. Yep, I assumed the position. I put my phone in hand, headphones in, and scrolled down the screen. I felt like one of them, one of us, the few the many, the electro-age. Yes the warm fuzzy feeling washed over me. I was just like every one else. YES!! Now I  can smile, laugh, and look into the eyes of my fellow travelers and feel the joy, the happiness, and community of the many. That is until my choice of music hit my ear...

The National Museum

The National Museum Today was another day of complete contrast. We took the river ferry upstream. We walked through Amulet market on our way to Pippetapan, The national museum. I learned that the Thai were not always so peaceful. Many wars were waged over many centuries. Kingdoms toppled and were retaken. Great cities were built, and sacked. But over this time they created a heritage which much of, still exists today. And let me tell you something else I learned today. This country can do bling! Bling like I have never seen. From birth to...

A Day In The Hood

A Day In The Hood  I awoke and feeling a little wiped out today. Coffee and street food are part of the routine, and today was no different. The line at the Khao Meun Gai rice stand told us all we needed to know, it would be good. A simple meal of rice and chicken was served with broth that is so clear and delicious. Dawn went off in search of phones. I stayed and cleaned up the condo and took care of some business. A lazy afternoon was followed by Korean barbecue. Afterwards we watched children performing traditional Thai, and Khemer dance....

Bhawa Spa Day

Bhawa Spa Khun June, my new favorite barista served us perfect lattes early this morning. Her innocence showed as she giggled and hid her mouth when I asked her name. Fully caffeinated we walked to the market around the corner. Who says spicy fish, shrimp, rice, and vegetables aren’t for breakfast. Not me, not by a long shot. That bowl of granola and raisins is just not going to look the same anymore. A little further exploration of our neighborhood was in order this morning and we came across a small wet market selling fresh vegetables and...

Sampeng Lane Bangkok

Sampeng Lane Bangkok

Sampeng Lane Who would have thought you could find 4000 different kinds of Mickey Mouse flip flops all unceremoniously tucked away under one roof. Well several roofs and various lanes that surround, cover ,shoot off of, run away from, and into Sampeng Lane in Chinatown. This, for me at least was like riding a roller coaster without the icky bottoming out of my stomach. The smells, the colors, the noise, the chatter, bargaining and buying of stuff that I didn’t even know existed on this great earth of ours, was unlike anything I had ever seen...

An Oriental Adventure – 90 Days in Thailand

Getting There: The adventure, better known as my life continues in a most peculiar and delightful way. My lover,{ best friend} and I have decided to spend three to four months in Thailand and other surrounding countries. So without further adieu, fanfare, or the boring details of planning for our escapades lets just jump right into the meat of what is for now, a very exciting place to be. The trains, planes, transfers, vans, taxis, luggage all coordinated exceedingly well. And much to our delight, the trip from there to here, while long,...
